Florida Atlantic University Breezeway

The FAU Breezeway is an existing open air 2 story, 27 feet wide and a quarter of a mile long covered structure connecting numerous buildings by the heart of the campus. The structure is mainly composed of concrete columns, hollow core concrete slabs for floors and roofs and precast concrete guardrails. The project scope included new re-roofing, waterproofing, painting and the remodeling of three attached restroom buildings. There was also the introduction of a suspended soffit used to improve lighting as well as provide a conduit to run power, data, and telecommunication utilities. Particular note was given to creating a new color scheme to help reinforce the University’s branding and provide an enhanced identification of it’s location on campus.
