Designed for the Academic Community for Children with Special Needs, this campus masterplan and facilities design provides persons with developmental and physical disabilities with an environment suited to enhance their social, cultural and athletic skills. This vision increases the users chance to become self-reliant and improve the quality of their personal life.
The 5-acre campus is carefully designed to achieve a balance between interior and exterior spaces, providing the students with an environment tailored to meet the needs of their individual curriculum.
Four buildings totaling 20,000sf, each serve individual educational programs, surrounding a central courtyard where the students' combined abilities are periodically tested.
This prototype development, designed by MCHarry Associates, includes a semi-Olympic pool, horse stables and track, horticulture fields, fitness center, computer labs, arts and crafts studio, little-theater/dance classroom, administrative offices and support spaces.
