EXPERIENCE: Ms. Solera is the Project Manager in charge of the educational projects at
MCHarry Associates. The
Educational Design Team, under her leadership, works on 3-4 schools at different
stages of development which are built within budget, schedule, and program. Ms. Solera has over 15 years of experience in educational
work and understands the issues, codes and requirements that must be addressed
for a successful school project.
Throughout her career, Ms. Solera has also acquired a broad range of experience
in both public and private projects. Her experience includes commercial and
retail projects, programming for a 300,000 SF museum facility, manufacturing
plants, institutional projects and facility planning for an international
telecommunications corporation.
Her qualifications and responsibilities have allowed her take a project from
its initial development into final construction. She has experience in: programming
and zoning research, schematic design, design development, construction documents,
project management and coordination, specifications and construction administration.
Ms. Solera’s involvement in the architectural field extends beyond the office. Ms. Solera has served on the Board of the Miami Chapter of the American Institute of Architects as a past president, director and secretary/ treasurer. Additionally, she was Chair of AIA Miami Architecture Week, from 2000-2002. This event garners the attention and involvement of not just the architects but also the community at large, as the AIA continues to strive for multi-disciplinary integration and the public’s understanding of the value of good design.
Ms. Solera has also served for many years on the City of Miami Historic and Environmental Preservation Board. In this capacity, she serves as the architectural
historian of the board. Additionally, since 1995, Ms. Solera serves on the Board of Directors of the Miami
Design Preservation League, as secretary and chair of the Design Award committee. To add to her endevours, Ms. Solera has also chosen to be a volunteer tour
guide for the Miami Beach Historic Art Deco District, which she has participated in since 1992.
Her continued link to education and architectural history has guided Ms. Solera to be an adjunct professor at the School of Architecture
at Florida International University. Here she continues to teach history both for the
Architecture and Landscape Architecture Department. At FIU, she has served on a variety
of juries for both, school-wide competition projects and individual design studios.
