Atlantic Sapphire Salmon Farm
Atlantic Sapphire Salmon Farm Phase I is a 363,942 GSF fully enclosed, land-based aquaculture facility developed in Homestead, Florida, for Atlantic Sapphire. Designed to support sustainable salmon production, the facility utilizes advanced recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) to optimize fish growth conditions while minimizing environmental impact. MCHarry & Associates, in collaboration with Arkitek (Denmark), provided architectural design services for this highly specialized industrial facility. The project is organized into multiple production zones based on fish size and life stage. The largest “On-Growing” zone includes thirty-six (36) 9,000 SF grow-out tanks supported by integrated systems for biofiltration, water intake, temperature control, and effluent treatment. Additional program elements include offices, laboratories, workshops, and chemical storage areas to support operations and research. Delivered under a CM@Risk construction methodology, the project required close coordination with a large multidisciplinary consultant team and complex system integration across multiple construction zones. Once operational, maintaining strict schedule adherence became critical as production cycles commenced. MCHarry’s role included coordination with the CMAR and design team to support phased delivery, system integration, and overall project execution. This project demonstrates MCHarry’s ability to deliver large-scale, technically complex facilities that integrate architecture, engineering systems, and operational requirements, resulting in one of the largest land-based aquaculture facilities in the world.
