Miami Dade College Freedom Tower Upgrades

The Miami Dade College Freedom Tower Upgrades project involved the comprehensive rehabilitation and modernization of the historic Freedom Tower, a nationally recognized cultural landmark and symbol of Miami’s immigrant and civic history. MCHarry & Associates provided architectural services to address building code, life safety, and accessibility deficiencies while preserving the building’s historic character and architectural integrity. The scope included significant structural repairs and reinforcements, restoration of the historic lobby and interior spaces, installation of new vertical circulation elements connecting multiple levels, ADA-compliant access improvements, and upgrades to building systems and life safety infrastructure. The project required careful coordination of structural, architectural, and MEP disciplines within an occupied and historically sensitive facility, delivering a modernized, code-compliant public building that supports cultural programming and public use while maintaining its historic significance.
