Miami-Dade College North Campus Science Complex

The majority of buildings on campus date back to the early 1960’s and express a ‘brutalist’ concrete aesthetic with an extremely limited color palette. The challenge here was to create a new architectural expression that would communicate the intellectual excitement of the college’s new focus on career development in Science Technology Engineering and Math.

The teaching and research facility accommodate Chemistry, Biology and Physics programs utilizing 20 ‘bio-safety level 2’ laboratories, a roof-top observatory, a botanical garden, and an orchid greenhouse.
