Venetian Pool Restoration - City of Coral Gables
The Mediterranean Revival Styled Venetian Pool is a historic public swimming pool listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Completed in 1924, it was created from an old coral rock quarry abandoned in 1921. The remaining quarry was reconfigured by architect Phineas Paist and designed by artist Denman Fink. Named for Mediterranean City of Venice, Italy, the pool includes a Venetian style bridge and classic mooring posts. The City engaged MC Harry Associates to conduct an assessment of existing conditions leading to a multi-phased renovation and restoration program. Project elements include tile roof replacement; pool deck and pool bottom restoration; concessions renovation; courtyard fountain and perimeter fence restoration; and a staff parking lot.
