MDC Freedom Tower

MCHarry is honored to be part of the transformative restoration of Miami’s Freedom Tower, a landmark that stands as a beacon of hope, resilience and freedom. As architects entrusted with its renovation, we are committed to preserving its rich history while enhancing its role as a cultural and educational hub for future generations.

Work consists of the building upgrades of the Freedom Tower.  Renovation addresses building code, life safety, and accessibility deficiencies, maintaining the historical integrity of the building.  Structural work includes a new structural slab, repair of the east façade wind bracing steel structure, addressing corrosion on steel, replacement of guy wires bracing smoke evacuation fans on the 3rd floor roof level, repair of concrete columns, beams, and slabs.  Historic preservation/restoration of the lobby.  A new stair connecting floors 2-4, FPL vault relocated, and new ADA access.

The Freedom Tower is expected to reopen to the public in the fall.

MDC Freedom Tower Ribbon Cutting

We are truly honored to have been part of the team behind the Miami Dade College Freedom Tower Renovation. Today, September 16, 2025 we attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony, celebrating this iconic landmark and its incredible significance to Miami’s history and culture.

Being involved in a project of such historical and civic importance reminds us why we do what we do: creating spaces that inspire, connect communities, and honor the past while shaping the future.

A special thank you to MDC, our partners, and everyone who made this project possible. It’s a privilege to contribute to Miami’s architectural legacy.
