George Merrick House Restoration - City of Coral Gables

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places the Coral Gables Merrick House exists today much as it did in the 1920’s. The house stands as a tribute to South Florida’s history and the Merrick family’s legacy. George Merrick was raised in the house and is the visionary behind the creation of the City of Coral Gables with much of its architectural style tracing back to this house.

The City of Coral Gables acquired the property in 1976 and began its first restoration efforts in earnest. Over the years since, the house has suffered additional distress, and in 2015, M.C. Harry & Associates was commissioned to repair, restore and rehabilitate the Main House and the Garage Apartment.
