Vizcaya Village MP Implementation Phase 1
The Vizcaya Village Master Plan Implementation – Phase 1 project involved the restoration and adaptive reuse of multiple historic 1920s-era structures within the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens campus, supporting expanded museum programming, education, and visitor services. MCHarry & Associates served as the Architect of Record, leading the design and implementation of Phase 1 improvements for this nationally significant cultural resource. The project included the rehabilitation of four contributing historic structures—the Paint Shop, East Gate Lodge, Garage, and Superintendent’s House—bringing them into compliance with current Florida Building Code while preserving their historic character. The scope of work encompassed restoration of building envelopes and architectural features, integration of new building systems and infrastructure, and interior renovations to accommodate exhibition, classroom, and operational uses. Site improvements included circulation enhancements, parking, landscaping, and removal of non-contributing structures to support the broader redevelopment vision for the Village. The project required careful coordination with preservation guidelines and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance while maintaining the integrity of the historic fabric. Completed in 2025, the project delivers a revitalized cultural campus environment that supports public engagement, educational programming, and the long-term preservation of this historically significant site.
